Armacao de Pera, situated on the Algarve between Albufeira and Praia de Rocha and only short drive from Carvoeiro, is a well-established resort and an ideal setting for a family beach holiday.
The town, not long ago just a collection of small shacks for fishing boats for the local residents of Pera, is nowadays composed of large blocks of holiday apartments with many bars and restaurants on the ground floor. In the summer months the town overflows with tourists, but for the rest of the year it is a peaceful holiday location.
The tourist popularity is due to one of the finest and largest sand beaches at the Algarve. The adjacent area is now happily protected against any further development. And the nearby rural village of Pera is a gentle reminder of the unspoiled sleepy Algarve.
Visitors to Armacao de Pera are well served by a great selection of shops, cafes and bars and, as one would imagine, some fantastic fish restaurants. Great places to eat can be found both on the beach and inland, and the resort has a couple of small discos. Whilst staying in Armacao de Pera, there are plenty of places to visit and things to do. A giant waterpark, Aqualand, is just a few kilometers away in Alcantarilha, and an animal theme park can be found in nearby Guia. Also in Guia is the Algarves’ largest shopping centre, with an English cinema, and the charming town of Porches, the pottery centre of the Algarve, is just a few kilometers inland, home to numerous shops selling the distinctive ceramics of the area.

The Algarve is famous for its beaches and coastline and it is still possible to find a quiet stretch of beach just a short drive from your holiday villa.
Armaçao de Pera
Longest sandy beach on the Algarve
The beach at Armacao de Pera, at almost 4km, is one of the longest in the Algarve, stretching almost to Gale, on the outskirts of Albufeira. With its’ white sands gently shelving into the warm waters, the beach offers safe swimming conditions for children, and the rocky coves provide endless opportunities for snorkelling.
